The chuck features a full diameter shank and tapers toa .401 diameter with 1/2"-20 threads (1/2"-28 threads available). When installed on conventional 36" or 42" shafted impact wrenches, it can hold chisels, punches or other work pieces for sanding, deburring, scraping or grinder work.

The new Ajax AJXA893 Chisel Adapter Chuck accepts standard 0.401 shank chisels, and locks them in place with a conventional screw, eliminating the need for a spring retainer. The CHUCK-SAFE spindle retainer is intended as an economical solution to the problem of retaining chisel shanks to spindles during the machining of tapers. The CHUCK-SAFE contains two chamfered threaded tube holes, one slightly larger than the other, which provide an interference fit for the shank of a standard .401 diamantered twist drill.
