The Emerson Climate™ SURESWITCH® Multi-Volt (120/240) CFL Contactors are designed to control a single 120 volt, or 277 volt, or a 120/240 volt fluorescent lamp ballast with a total load of 1800 watts or less including the ballast and lamp. This contactor can also be used to control high voltage (480V) three phase fluorescent ballast. The new Emerson Climate SURESWITCH® Multi-volt contactors are designed for use with electronic magnetic and electronic non-magnetic ballasts manufactured by Flourescent Lighting Companies such as Philips, Osram Sylvania and General Electric.

This Emerson Climate-White Rodgers 49M11843 SURESWITCH MULTI-V CONTACTOR is an electrical device that switches equipment on or off, usually using a relay to control power. This is a solid-state device in that it uses semiconductor materials for its switching mechanism. It can switch incandescent and fluorescent lighting loads, electric motors, and resistive heating loads up to 150 amps at 120 volts. It contains a built-in test function for switching on and off devices under load, as well as for measuring voltage drop across the load (current leakage).
