Combat Commander: Pacificis a card-driven game that deals with the US and Japanese efforts to fight over the Pacific in WWII. The main decision space in Combat Commander is the "Two-Card Play Sequence" where players/commanders are forced to make tough choices and execute plans on a turn-by-turn basis.

In Combat Commander: Pacific, players are separated into Japanese and American forces in a series of linked battles around the Pacific during WWII. Japanese forces play using a unique rules system that includes special Event cards and Off-board artillery fire while Americans have more conventional Action Card driven gameplay and air support. Victory is determined by victory points which are awarded at the end of each battle which are then used to determine the winner of the campaign.
