Lead-lag control in single-speed drives reduces overshoot on starting and stopping. A free-run lead compensates for the inertia of the field pole and all mechanical components resulting in a smooth start, stop, and fast transient response time (from 0 to 50%). This means more torque at the motor at all times.

The ICM Control is a programmable lead-lag control with a minimum of external apparatus. The installa tion requires only a power supply which can be mounted remotely, as well as two upstream control valves or existing controllers. There is no need for on-site microprocessor capability or special software, which reduces costs and maintenance. The ICM controls are ideal in situations where there is a need to operate the valves independently, but the exact timing between them is critical. They offer improved flexibility in all industrial applications where multipoint control applies."

ICM controls provides lead-lag control of hot fluid in process piping. The ICM (Interpolating Control Module) nozzles are used to connect the thermocouples before and after the control valves. When the signals from the thermocouples are processed, the lead-lag control action is produced to drive the valves. The ICM provides bidirectional action.

The Lead-Lag controller works by processing three temperatures and then adjusting the temperature of the first heating element to either lead or lag the second heating element by a preset amount. The lead/lag output depends on the ratio of the processed temperatures: 3.00=Lead, 1.00=Lag, and 1.33=Constant Temperature. For example: If one zone is set at 180°F, and the other is set at 200°F, it will operate in Lag mode at 33%.

The ICM602 Lead-Lag control is one of the smallest commercially available lead-lag controllers. The LDC is designed to sense process variables and, using the PID principles, provides automatic corrections to equipment processes. This makes it ideal in applications where operators do not want to have to worry about setting up variable speed drives for precise control or for equipment that has inherent variations which are not accurately predictable.

This ICM control is a lead-lag system designed for use with the F4 and F5 DC motors in various hydraulic applications. It simulates the action of a double acting pneumatic cylinder by mechanically translating movement into pulsations to control pressures that are being exerted on a valve.

The ICM601 and ICM602 provide plug-in, lead-lag control for pump motors. Two external terminals are supplied for the connection of the motor leads, with an internally-mounted thermistor providing valuable protection for the device itself.
