Each component in Charterstone is integral to the long-term gameplay. There are no superfluous elements. The central cards, the central village boards, and the individual player boards are all double sided—when you place them in your game area, their unique backs will form the landscape of a virtual world that evolves with each passing year...

Charterstone is a legacy game: a single box that contains a complete village and the start of an ongoing legacy story. Players develop their village over multiple campaigns, continually adding new elements to the evolving story. The Box Bottom line: Charterstone replaces luck with strategy, while also making games shorter and more accessible than ever before. The entire game is made from six basic components, for easy set-up and tear-down after each session.

Over the course of five games, players build up the village of their dreams with out-of-this-world powers, and then work to get the most of their coins by the end of the last game. From the depths of history, your new settlement will rise. In Charterstone, players build a self-producing village. Over the course of five game years, you'll make decisions and use your workers to strike a balance between production and consumption. The goal is to have the best settlement in the region, but as you work toward that goal, new paths become clear and present new opportunities.

In Charterstone, players will build their village over the course of 3 chapters (or ages) unlocking new actions as they go. They will develop and open pubs to gain resources, recruit adventurers to help them fight off the forest beasts, construct buildings to upgrade

Charterstone is a board game with a legacy twist: As you explore the evolving village, you'll chart your progress with stickers on the charter cards themselves. At the end of the game, you'll permanently alter your charters and put the game away – or not – based on the decisions you've made. In 1 to 6 player games, you'll use worker-less checks to help build up and develop your village over 7 seasons. Each season's harvest may yield rewards if you can make it
