Butt Hinges are used on doors where full overlay is desired. The butt hinge is usually attached to the door first, then turned horizontally with the short side of the hinge face up, so that the door can be attached to it. Unlacquered brass hinges have no finish and are natural in appearance.
I square (butt) mortise hinges are usually found on right-hand doors, but may be used as left-hand door hinges in some applications. Butt hinges are commonly used at the top of a door such as that found on closet and pantry doors. They also provide a convenient location when adding a window or mirror to a door of off-center hinges.
Medium Duty Mortise Hinge in Unlacquered Bright Brass Finish, Door Thickness 5/8? to 7-1/4? tall (depending on width)
Antique hardware has a feel all its own -- we love the look of it. We even tried to reproduce some antique parts in our early days. After years of experience, we've learned that antique hardware can't always stand up to the rigors of daily use. Our philosophy is...don't build anything that you wouldn't want in your own home and use yourself. So every Baldwin hinge, pull, latch, lock, and door is designed to be beautiful and last a lifetime.
A superior hinge for enhancing the beauty and durability of cabinet doors and drawers. It also allows more consistent positioning of the doors in the frame when exposed by recessing the door face.
The Baldwin Brass 8200 Series of un-lacquered bright brass hinges are ideal for everything from fine furniture to commercial applications. They offer a highly detailed design with hand tooled rosettes and no open fillets.
