The Apollo Valve 13-211 Series relieves pressure in steam lines and equipment when barges, vessels, ships, or other marine facilities are in port. The valve meets the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B16.34 code and has a 15-psi set pressure for rupture discs.
CONBRACO's Apollo Valve is a ball valve design safety relief valve designed for low pressure and medium pressure applications. It provides a manual opening on the face of the valve with a bonnet locking ring. The Apollo Valve features include a 15 psi set pressure, which is available in bonnet open or bonnet closed frame configuration. It also has a 1/8" thick stem actuated by a 3/16" square link for an easy operation. The Apollo Valve must be installed at least 12 inches away from the steam source to prevent exposure of steam to the maximum temperature.
A steam relief valve is a type of safety valve designed to control the pressure and flow of steam. Its purpose is to relieve excess pressure that may build up in a pipeline or vessel. The main body of a steam relief valve consists of a stem and disc assembly, which are designed to move outwards when steam pressure builds up on the high side (the side with an excess of steam) and push against an internal seat.
Relief valves protect piping systems by preventing backpressure from developing when line pressure is reduced or steam is cut off. When lines are being drained and when service is discontinued, it is necessary to close the relief valve to prevent the pressure buildup from damaging connected equipment. Relief valves must be set at a pressure approximately 10% greater than the pressure developed in the piping system under the most severe service conditions. This assures a complete closure of the valve against steam during service interruption and provides a means to drain condensate that might develop during draining or other shut down procedures.
The Apollo Valve contains a pre-assembled, corrosion-resistant bronze body, stem, and disc and is designed for use on water heating systems. It features a permanently-attached cap for easy serviceability and an easily accessible setting knob for adjusting the pressure set point. The Apollo Valve is rated for steam applications and has a maximum pressure rating of 15 psi at 400°F.
The Apollo® Valve was developed for the construction of domestic system heating boilers fired by solid fuels such as wood and peat, and pressurized by natural gas or coke-oven derived gas. Used to control boiler pressure on mini- and midi-boilers, the Apollo Valve maintains low-pressure steam conditions. This valve is specially designed to control a maximum potential working pressure of 15 PSI.
