This mercury flame sensor is part of the White-Rodgers Silent Knight series. This pilot tube has 4 prongs and is for use with the 5062, 5063, 5064C, and 5065C, cushioned power and silent knight gas valves.

The White-Rodgers Mercury Flame Sensor is used on Cushioned Power and Silent Knight gas valves. Features 4 prongs per rod (2 for knob). Choose accordingly when replacing a Flame Sensor (42" Element) on a Cushioned Power or Silent Knight gas valve. The Mercury Flame Sensor detects the flame of pilot lights and automatically turns on the main burner.

At the heart of your furnace, boiler, or water heater is a flame sensing control called a thermocouple. The pilot flame is adjusted to the correct size by a mixture of air and gas, and then protected from gusts of wind and drafts with a screen. If the safety pilot loses its pilot flame for any reason, such as strong drafts from an open window or door or a power failure, the pilot will go out and shut off the gas supply to your unit.
