The 40-418 is a replacement hot surface ignitor for many models of Goodman ZCS, ZPH, and ac controls. The 40-418 is zinc plated for extra durability and includes 4 brackets.
The hot surface ignitor is used on Goodman Gas Furnaces. The ignitor is what the thermostat sends the gas signal to. when the thermostat calls for heat the ignitor will spark and ignite the burner. The Thermostat makes the call for heat so this ignitor is replaceable, but by replacing it you must also replace the wiring harness behind it that goes out to the burners. If you have bad wiring you may want to replace both at once. If you are replacing your ignitor make sure you check to see if it is your problem before replacing anything else from your furnace. It
