Pressure switches are in various RUUD furnaces. These switches will break if excessive temperature or pressure is applied and will keep the furnace from operating until it is replaced. The pressure switch contains a sensing bulb, an internal spring and an over-tempature "freeze" control switch that releases excess gas when it senses a 15-18 second increase of 10? to 15? beyond "ON" set point during the first 1/8th hour of operation. This RHEEM Pressure Switch got it's start in 1947 as a New York distributor of plate type heat exchangers. Eventually, the company moved to Georgia and focused on manufacturing process equipment and air conditioning products. Starr Technology Inc. was established in 1994 with a focus on the aftermarket industrial controls market. In 1998, Starr acquired RHEEM Controls from Southern Company.

The pressure switch has an indicator that shows whether the switch is in the off position, low pressure or high pressure.  The indicator will turn yellow in the off position and red for high and low pressure
