This Baldwin LEVER mortise lock provides years of trouble-free operation, because its patented design features a barrel on each side that alternately moves up and down, instead of back and forth. This movement permits the barrel to be made in one piece with no welding or assembly required. The barrel is held securely in place by a cam that clamps around the cylinder pin to eliminate play, while the shifting force is provided by the coil spring. An additional feature standard for this product line is the GRIP TITE active locking pin technology.
This Baldwin Entrance and Apartment Lever Lock is designed to be used on the outside of the door as a deadbolt. The lock features a 2.75 inch backset and is installed from right to left in the inside of the door. The lever handle can operate with either a thumb or finger action. It comes with a keyed cylinder, but can be converted to use a standard pin tumbler cylinder by changing out the steering lever mechanism and the cylinder.
