Direct Spark Ignition (DSI) is a new innovation in ignition which provides you with a noticeable performance boost. It goes from 30,000 BTUs to 50,000 BTUs and is perfect for New Construction or when you're looking to upgrade your existing equipment.

The Direct Spark Ignitor (DSI) system is a combination of the spark module and ignition coil. It provides a highly reliable alternative to traditional pilot lights through self-sufficient ignition. The DSI can be used with gas, oil, and high-efficiency gas/oil (HZ-G/O) furnaces.

Direct Spark Ignition System feature on some Ruud units and is also known in the industry as Direct Spark ignition (DSI). This feature operates without the use of a pilot light.

The Direct Spark Ignitor (DSI) does not require electricity for gas ignition as the device utilizes a device that is driven by either the gas valve or a control connection directly to the existing flame. This is especially helpful for high efficiency furnaces where a source of electricity is not available or the system has been shut down due to power outages.
