The 5/8" Gas pilot safety valve for natural gas offers the highest level of safety. The thermocouple connection, opposite the pilot, fits a 1/2" copper tube only and is separated from the pilot. This safety valve comes with a plugged rear inlet and the thermocouple connection opposite the pilot.
The 5156 is a 3/8" X 3/8" gas safety pilot valve that features rear plug and thermocouple connections opposite pilot. It has through the body inlet and outlet connections. The body is constructed of carbon steel and is suitable for use on natural gas, propane, air or any other compatible fluids at temperatures from -20°F to 280°F.

A "safety pilot" type gas valve is designed to stop the flow of gas or gaseous fuel in an event where the flame goes out. Venturi-type pilots do not extinguish and require larger than normal gas flows for proper operation, hence are not recommended for use on natural gas systems. This pilot operates from a gaseous fuel source only. It should be connected to the appliance by a copper tube, 3/8" inner diameter.
