The Johnson Controls 3401 is a low temperature cutout control with manual reset, for use with gas-fired water heaters. This product has no moving parts, and can be mounted on any vertical surface.
There are two main types of Low Temperature Cutout controls. Valve type Low Temperature Cutout controls are used on refrigerant compressors and refrigeration systems manufactured prior to 1990. Those made after 1990 use thermostat type controls, which close the High Limit when the High Limit Switch senses an over-temperature situation.
The Johnson Controls 3401 Low Temperature Cutout Control provides an effective means of shutting down power to refrigerant circuits in the event of superheat conditions based on preselected cutout settings.

The Johnson Controls Low Temperature Control & Manual Reset is a 4 ft cap control that works in a variety of applications using gas or electric heaters.
This control is for use with refrigeration or air conditioning systems. It has a manual reset. The cutout temperature is adjustable. An on-off screwdriver probe permanently connected to the control must be inserted in the temperature sensing lead wire terminal to provide power to the control at all times.
