Crankcase Heaters, also known as air preheaters or air starters, are used on diesel engines to start the engine and warm up the engine oil before the engine is started. Crankcase heaters are installed in the crankcase area, either in-line with or ahead of the oil filter. They employ a small, electric resistance element to heat air and force it into the crankcase.

The Amana Crankcase Heater works in conjunction with your engine’s oil to warm the vehicle's interior.  The internal oil heater warms the engine's oil, which then circulates through a heat exchanger that warms the cabin. The Amana Crankcase Heater is designed for use in vehicles equipped with an external engine oil filter only.
