The B520-283 Deadbolt Dust Box enables Schlage deadbolts to feature integrated alarm systems. These dust boxes enable Schlage deadbolts to be the "eyes" of an alarm system, providing early warning protection against break-ins. They possess an accelerometer that acts as a seismic motion sensor. The accelerometer triggers an alarm when there is an attempt to forcibly open a protected door or window.

The B520-283 dust box is designed for use on the Schlage B-Series deadbolts when the deadbolt is either surface mounted or used with a deep cylindrical lock case cover or spacer. The cylindrical lock, also known as the shroud, will have to be modified to accept this dust box and provide downward movement of the lock.
