This 4" hex nut, or captive-washer, is constructed from Acorn hex nuts, which washers, lock washers and the like gives long lasting service in a variety of applications. The bolt is in 2 parts (a threaded bolt and a hex nut), both of hardened steel and case hardened to a Rockwell C65-70. The nut has two interlocking raised serrations that form a wide bearing surface for the bolt and offers maximum strength.

This hex nut, generally attached to the end of a threaded shaft, is used to attach the motor brushes on medium- and lower-speed motors. It is made of durable steel, with a nickel plating that resists rust.
