The Carrier EA36YP287 Thermal Expansion Valve is a single port, two-way, thermal expansion valve that provides temperature compensation between two points and implements control of the system differential pressure. The unit works on hot or chilled water only.

The Carrier EA36YP287 thermal expansion valve is a modified plug-in Module for use with the Carrier Theia and Stratos Electronic Air Cleaner models.

Thermal expansion valve allows steam to flow through both the primary and distribution lines at a constant low rate without power. This helps prevent excessive pressure build-up during startup or when a unit is operated at high ambient temperatures.

In order for this to happen, the pressure of the gas passing through the burner(s) must be similar to the pressure required for the burner operation, which is controlled by the thermocouple or thermal expansion valve.
