The HR54AL315 is the replacement for the old 6042 type. This switch has a single pole double throw (SPDT) configuration has three leads and contacts. This switch has a normally closed contact, normally open contact or center off toggle position similar to old style light switches. The "on" position closes contacts 2 and 3, opening contacts 1 and 4. The "off" position opens contact 2 and closes 1 and 3. The middle or off position places the contacts in parallel creating a center off toggle function very common in older toggles switches.
