The Carrier® 297747 EC31EZ212 is a Check Valve. It is usually installed in the condensate drain line to prevent the flow of water back toward the evaporator coil.

This Check Valve prevents back siphonage of hot water or steam into the water supply lines caused by a drop in system pressure

The Carrier EC31EZ212 Check Valve offers a way to protect against a possible reversal of airflow from ductwork after a disconnect, preventing damage. The check valve is designed for installation with squirrel-cage blowers. It's made of brass, with an aluminum housing and seal, and comes with all necessary fasteners.

A check valve is used to ensure that water flows in only one direction, e.g., into the pool when the filter pump is running and then preventing backflow from the pool into the filter pump. This is particularly useful when using a single filtration system for drinking water and also for swimming pools.
