The brake assembly mounts to the rear of the engine and operates by pushing on the outer cover plate of the flywheel magneto. This forces a wedge-shaped block against one end of a center bar in the rotor. The wedge ends of this bar act as a brake on its other side which holds one blade between two chains to stop it from turning.
