FLAME SENSOR

Flame Sensor, a revolutionary product developed by International Comfort Products, is the first patented technology to sense and eliminate gas-fed fire. As the gas logs burn, Flame Sensor chemically changes its state back and forth from its normally stable state to an unstable state. This change in the molecular structure of Flame Sensor creates a wave or frequency which signals the flame sensor on your natural gas log set to open the gas valve for a short time as sensed temperature increases.

The Flame Sensor is a fast acting, highly sensitive safety device that effectively shuts off fuel to the fire when activated. This feature has a heat sensing bulb that melts in the event of an actual flame, and must cool before the unit will again allow fuel through. The Flame Sensor should be installed at the end of the venting system, before any other vents or gas lines.

With the Flame Sensor, we have provided added safety for radiant cooktop users. The Flame Sensor uses advanced infrared technology to detect and shut off the power to a burner if the surface temperature rises above 400°F (204°C) – an indication that a pot lid is starting to melt or a potholder is too close-without turning off the burner. This added safety feature can be used with any cookware, including pots and pans that are larger than 12 inches in diameter
