RECOIL STARTER

The recoil starter consists of a drive housing, starter assembly and handle. The starter assembly includes a spring-loaded chain, piston and centrifugal weight. The chain attaches to the crankshaft of the engine and the piston is attached to the crankcase. As the engine cranks, the centrifugal weight turns the chain around the crankshaft, causing it to pull against the piston and creating compression in an effort to start the engine.
