This limit control turns the pilot burner off when it reaches a set point on the pilot flame adjuster. A low gas pressure switch in the pilot assembly is grounded with the pilot burner lit. The immersed thermocouple monitors for excess pilot flame temperature, and raises the low gas pressure switch to its high limit position if excessive pilot flame temperature is reached. If there are no flames or pilot lights are not secured, this high limit control will be inoperative. When properly adjusted the high limit control will cut down on wasted fuel with excess pilot light temperatures.
