How to Disassemble the Delta Single Handle Kitchen Faucet
The purpose of disassembling the Delta Single Handle Kitchen Faucet ball and seat assembly is to check if there are any cracks on the gaskets, if there are leakages and if the taps need to be replaced.
1. Shut the hot and cold water off.
2. Remove the faucet handle by loosening the set screws.
3. Remove the cap to expose the valve using lock pliers. For the cap that does not have any grooves, you can put a towel over it so that you do not scratch the color finish of the faucet.
4. Pull the cam and ball assembly up to remove them. (The arrow that is on the cam assembly points to the front side.)
5. Remove the seat assembly with a Phillip head screwdriver or an Allen wrench.
6. Use an Allen wrench to replace the seat assembly as well so that you do not lose the spring. Sit the seat assembly by pressing on it lightly.
7. Replace the ball and cam assembly with new ones.
8. Make sure that the tab in the faucet is inserted in the ball housing slot after installing the ball assembly. Also, make sure that the tab on the cam is inserted inside the slot on the housing of the faucet. The arrow should be pointing forward.
9. Replace the locking cap of the assembly.
10. Tighten the locking cap assembly by hand. If it fails to lock, you can use channel lock pliers.
11. Turn the water back on and check to see if there are any leaks.
12. Install the faucet handle. Insert the ball stem inside the hole that is on the faucet handle and then tighten the screw.
