The Q4100 series silicon carbide hot surface igniter (HSI) is designed to produce a long spark to ignite gas and oil burners. This HSIs positive action generates the maximum amount of spark energy for longer arc path, higher amperage, lower voltage and higher resistance to pit cratering. This HSI has a continuous current rating exceeding 100,000 amps. It is ideal for heater ignition applications requiring high inrush currents when used with twin-coil or split-coil igniters. A single-spark design provides lower standby power consumption than multiple-spark units.

The HSI igniter is designed to control surface temperatures up to 1280 F (704 C). Silicon Carbide igniters are rated for 1000 VAC, but should only be used with non surge-rated power supplies. These durable devices are designed to eliminate the need for operators to replace their high temperature electrodes. This HSI igniter features a black oxide finish that is compatible with both thermocouple and hot wire sensors.

The Honeywell Q4100C9068 HSI (Hot Surface Ignitor) is a replacement silicon carbide igniter which is generally located on the top of a gas burner assembly or mounted in an electronic ignition system. The silicon carbide electrical resistance ignites the gas that flows through the groove of the burner tube and eventually to the orifice. The material used in this igniter does not erode at high temperatures like other igniters making it very durable.

This accessory igniter is designed for use with propane-fueled kerosene and natural gas-fueled fireplaces. The accessory igniter features a silicon carbide rod, mounted in a steel casing. This rod is designed to be inserted into a fire's pilot burner.

The Common to Heritage™ design makes it easy to replace outdated common wiring. The Q4100C9068 replicates the original legacy Lds igniter used in many gas products.

The Honeywell Hot Surface Igniter is a replacement part for gas grill models made after January 1993. The HSI is used in place of the standard hot surface reed switch, and you will find a notch on the ceramic, as opposed to at the end.
