The Johnson Controls C-5230-2 signal limiter's internal sensing system is used to automatically control the air/fuel ratio in a vehicle's exhaust system. The sensing probe is designed to sense the exhaust gas air/fuel ratio on either a high or low flame condition and applies kill power at the appropriate time for optimum vehicle performance. It senses the flame condition by using the transmitter circuit output to turn on an indicator light on top of the case when power is applied to it.
