A Kwikset 968 door opens with an oval trim about 7-1/4" x 11-7/8". We show this on the right side of the door, so our left hand is on the outside, and the right hand is on the inside. It's easy—the thumbturn goes to the left for locked, and to the right for unlocked. The deadbolt protrudes over a 1 inch lip.
