The TXV valve is used to control the flow of refrigerant through air conditioning (A/C) and heat pump systems. This valve uses the refrigerant circuit as a charged or non-charged volume, to create a pressure drop within the pneumatic side of the system. The regulated pressure drop causes the valve to shunt additional refrigerant and metal lubricant through the system in order to reduce wear and tear on critical components.

C1628 and 28C14 models include a TXV valve to adjust the volume of refrigerant in the heat exchanger. The TXV is an electronically controlled variable speed solenoid valve. It controls the flow of additional refrigerant into the heat exchanger during heating cycles when the evaporator temperature equals or exceeds the suction gas return temperature. When apartment conditions require less heating, TXV responds by opening and shutting additional refrigerant into the heat exchanger.
