The TXV valve is an internal wall THERMOSTAT valve that controls airflow in heating and cooling systems.
The TXV is a type of gas valve used successfully by the HVAC industry for over three decades. The technology is a cost-effective replacement for the far more expensive variable speed ECM motor drive systems in use today. The Award Winning Lennox TXV System replaces field installed ECM motor drives with lightweight, compact, and simple to install TXV Valves that provide a direct correlation between outdoor air conditions and furnace burner operation, providing precise temperature control regardless of outdoor conditions.
The TXV is an industry standard field replaceable valve that controls the flow of refrigerant (gas) in refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The valve consists of a mechanical spool with a trimmer-ring, positioned at the end of a stem or shaft.
The TXV valve is a metered-flow, nonadjustable pressure relief valve designed for use in closed refrigerant piping systems. The TXV valve maintains constant refrigerant flow while reducing compressor start current and prolonging compressor life. This allows the TXV valve to be used when building an air conditioner system.
The TXV or "twin exchanger" valve is available in line with gas furnace to replace the standard CXV. It regulates temperature change inside the house by receiving cool indoor air and delivering it to the outdoor unit by using the refrigerant as a coolant, working entirely inside the house and not outside. This allows for a more efficient air conditioning process.
The 51W27 replacement TXV valve is for Lennox, Amana, Carrier comfort controls and Rheem/Ruud heat pumps. The generic r-22 equivalent has the same features as the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part number TXV. This Lennox part replaces some old style valves and is not compatible with low temperature models.
The TXV is a type of Inverter valve. It works by controlling the volume of refrigerant as it enters the evaporator coil. The TXV will only let a certain amount of R-22 refrigerant enter to fill the evaporator coil. If too much refrigerant enters, the compressor will keep running until all the freon condenses in the compressor head and water gets forced out into the sight gauge. Also, if too little refrigerant enters, the evaporator cannot maintain cooling so the blower motor increases its speed while adding additional voltage to make sure it is getting colder on one end.
