The Lennox 96M55 is a Bearing Retainer that mounts in the 96M4-2 and allows for the replacement of the motor mount.

The Lennox 96M55 Bearing Retainer is an O-Ring that holds a bearing in place within cylindrical or tapered housings. It is typically made of metal alloy and contains a shallow groove along its center. The groove is designed to hold an O-ring, which creates a snug fit between the shaft and the retainer.

Lennox Bearing Retainers are used on most Lennox two-stage gas furnace models prior to 1996. Our 5/16" diameter 96M55 Bearing Retainer features a tapered bore that allows the end of the shaft into which it is installed to move freely once locked in place. The 96M55 retainer is placed over the shaft, at one end, and a threaded rod is inserted through it. The rod can be secured in place by a nut on either side. The thread size of the rod must match the threads of one of the holes found on either side of the 96M55 bearing retainer.
