The Soul-Mate plug is a high performance spark plug designed for older import cars and sport compacts that use a single center electrode with a slightly recessed ground electrode. The D8EA is the most common plug used in many Honda Accord and Acura models. It is thinner than the standard Honda plug to allow it to fit into the smaller space between the engine and firewall. This is an updated version of NGK's popular D8 series spark plugs, which was discontinued in 2006 due to quality issues.

These spark plugs are made of copper and have a very well-deserved reputation for reliability, operating under harsh conditions. Their heat range is 7 to 8 on the Ruggles scale (a range that covers most street engines) for a hotter plug than the stock Bosch PFR6 series, which are rated at 6.
