The Johnson Controls 8528 is an all-range pressure controller designed for non-corrosive refrigerants in commercial and residential HVAC applications. The controller is Single Pole, Single Throw (SPST) with an adjusted set point of 20%.

The standard in single-pole, single-throw (SPST) pressure relief relays for non-corrosive refrigerants for over 50 years. The 8521 series provides time delay and quick acting relief in a unique small size ideal for retrofitting existing equipment when minimal space is available. Operating switches to O (off).

This pressure control is intended for use with an auxiliary control system to maintain the pressure in a given branch circuit at a desired set point. The low-pressure cutout should be wired in series with an existing load termination capable of carrying the full current of the branch circuit. This series connection protects branches capable of carrying less than 20 amps by limiting their current flow to less than 20 amps.

The R series of pressure controls represents the original design, shape and features introduced by Johnson Controls in the early 1960s. The common problem of high line pressure when using a refrigeration compressor can be resolved by using this Johnson Controls 8528 pressure control. This inline pressure regulator has an inlet connection of 1/4'' NPT and an outlet connection of 1/4'' NPT. It has a maximum inlet pressure of 100 psi and a maximum outlet pressure of 20 psi.

The 8528 Series Air Operated Pressure Controls use a diaphragm and piston which is adjustable from the exterior of the control by a pressure setting screw. These controls can be used on any refrigeration system up to 100 psi, including air conditioning systems. They are particularly well suited for some larger automotive air conditioning systems as well as comfort cooling equipment, portable air conditioners, heat pumps, and general HVAC applications involving ammonia, non-corrosive refrigerants, and nitrogen.

The Johnson Controls 8528 is a pressure control valve with an adjustable pilot. This device allows the user to choose the desired pressure output without affecting the system's high side.
