The LP Pilot Orifice is used on the inside of your natural gas water heater tank. It controls the fuel input level into the burner(s). If the pilot orifice is clogged it can cause loss of heat, erratic operation, and no ignition.
The LP pilot orifice shuts off the flow of gas to the burners when there is little or no draft going through the pilot light. This device allows air to flow through the pilot light cone all the time, except when there is no draft caused by the fan being shut off in the house or by atmospheric conditions. It does not always operate and is a safety feature that shuts off gas to the burners.
Fix your furnace with the Rheem LP Pilot Orifice made by Ruud.
The pilot orifice shown above is a valve designed to regulate the flow of LP Gas from your tank and turn it into usable natural gas for your home.
The pilot orifice assures proper pilot ignition and burner operation at low altitudes. The orifice is a safety device critical to the safe operation of the system. The plug should be inspected annually/every 12 months and replaced as needed.
For applications requiring a central gas valve, a Pilot Orifice (also called a Pilot Control Device or PCD) is used. The Pilot Orifice in the RHEEM/ Ruud line of gas boilers is designed to provide an economical way of reducing drafts which may be up to 10 times the velocities at the appliance location when compared to typical forced air draft hoods.
The Rheem LP Supply Orifice is the part that controls the gas flow from a tank to your furnace. It helps to regulate the pressure, which in turn, controls the gas output of your furnace.
