This certification process can help minimize the possibility of improper installation or damaging a heat pump system, which may lead to equipment damage, injury or death.

TXV (Do Not Freeze) is designed to protect the end user and the hardware warranty. The TXV will protect against freezing temperatures; yet it will provide heating capacity down to 0°F ambient temperature. Should a freeze occur, the TXV will not break like a pilot tube would. This prevents expensive heater core damage, and failure which would destroy the warranty on your Rheem-Ruud system.

Get the best protection by switching to a TXV(thermostat expansion valve) - it's the little brother of the FRP(flame rod pilot). It gives you more efficiency and saves more energy. And during peak demand periods, its simple operation automatically turns on the auxiliary heating source, up to 2 stages of emergency heat for a total of 6 kW. Special locking feature for winter helps avoid frost damage.

A TXV (thermostatic expansion valve) is located in the outdoor coil and attached to the evaporator coil. This is called "Two Stage Cooling".
