The FC Series is suitable for high end applications. It has a multipoint locking system, which allows for multiple people to have convenient access. The 40-340 619 Privacy Button is an additional option that adds security and helps prevent unwanted access. This button can be used in situations where there is only one user who needs access to the lock. For maximum convenience, this privacy button can be accessed manually and with a key from either side of the door. This provides convenience for building maintenance personnel, staff entry or other situations where one person may need to gain entry while others do not.

The Schlage 40-340 619 Button will fit any Schlage FC SERIES handle and is found in apartment complexes, condos and dorms where you must enter a security code to gain access.

The Schlage privacy button kits have been designed to match the Ideal-Fit deadbolt series and are meant for use on exterior doors 4" or more in thickness, and will not work on vertical surface installations. The Schlage privacy button kits come with a doorknob trim component that conceals the privacy cylinder from view while the door is closed. Installing the privacy button kit will also cause the lock to be inoperable as it is no longer key-interchangeable.
