The Shakespeare J-5242-A antenna is an external 3 VHF marine band whip, and has a miniature stainless steel braid shield to protect from nautical radio frequency interference. It will mount to any equipment that includes a threaded fitting or stud, and has a low profile.
SHAKESPEARE 5242-A Antenna Package combines our flexible 3 dB gain VHF antenna and the 1 piece universal mount for easy quick installation. The black non glare finished steel whip is RG58 jacketed thermoplastic with a permanently attached magnetic, waterproof connector and a chrome steel receptacle connecting plate.
The Shakespeare 5242-A 3-DBI low profile antenna is a VHF marine band UHF antenna. It has an impedance of 50 Ohms and is 1/2 wave on VHF Marine Band (160 Mhz). The gain to noise ratio is +3dB, with a flame resistant fiberglass housing and stainless steel whip. This antenna has a frequency range between 156 Mhz and 174 Mhz.

This is a nice looking, well-made solid brass ball "whip" style antenna.
