RELAY SENSING

Relay sensing is used to monitor the status of the 24VAC control voltage. Correct operation of this feature is critical for correct gas valve, outdoor air thermistor sensing and indoor air thermistor sensing. Without relay sensing, the furnace might not turn off properly.

The circuit board has three circuits -- the first is Relay Sensing. It has two relays and each relay can handle 8 amps. The relays are used with sensors to control the sensing element (onset, off-set or reset).

It monitors 0vac power to the furnace via terminal R like terminals T1 and T3, which when the furnace is on these contacts are open via the two off inputs and the contact closes under control of relay K. When the furnace is off, Z does not allow the contacts to close.

This item is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) replacement board that has been built to fit certain units with the same model number as mine, but my specifications may have been redesigned slightly by the manufacturer of your particular unit.
