It consists of a small bottle of dye injected into a refrigerant line during a service job in order to make visible the issue from the outside of the car.

The dye gives a visible indication if the A/C system is holding a charge. This is a very handy tool for checking an R-134 (Fluorocarbon) A/C system that is using a charge port or manifold gauge.
