1. Identify and locate the seat bolt covers

   Using a flat-head screwdriver, or just your hands, pry the side that is opposite the hinge to snap the cover-up and expose the bolt. Each one of the two covers hides the seat bolts at the back of the toilet seat and is completely hinged.

2. Unscrew the Toilet Bolts

   Counterclockwise, unscrew each bolt with a screwdriver. Friction holds the rubber sleeves and they fit securely against the holes in the toilet. This makes the bolts not stick.

3. Clamp pliers onto the toilet sleeves

   The sleeve is black and it extends about two inches above the bowl. So, clamp a pair of locking pliers onto it. Turn the screw again, and the sleeve will turn together with the screw until the handle of the pliers makes contact with the toilet bowl. You will notice that the sleeve will not turn any further. Then proceed to remove the screw.

4. Lift the seat

   After removing both bolts, you can then lift the Toto toilet seat off the bowl. To complete the removal procedure, grip the top of each sleeve with the pliers and pull the sleeves out of the hole inside the bowl. And you are done!

So, How Do You Replace Your Toto Toilet Seat?

The procedure for your Toto seat replacement is as follows:

1. Measure the size of your toilet seat to make sure it is standard.

   Take note of the distance between the two bolts that are currently holding the seat in place (located at the top of the seat), as well as the length and width of the seats.

2. Buy a Toto toilet seat that will fit your toilet’s measurement.

3. Move the old seat by unscrewing the two bolts holding it in place.

   Hold the nut underneath with a pair of pliers as you turn the bolt heads with a screwdriver. Note, however, there may be plastic caps covering the bolt that you will need to pop open. Take caution as you implement this step.

When a toilet seat has been in use for a long time, it gets loose and wiggly and is in need of fixing.

The following is a list of the tools that are required to fix your toilet seat:

• A 4-in-1 screwdriver
• A drill bit set
• drill/driver (preferably cordless)
• A pair of pliers

The requirements are:

• Toilet seat stabilizer kit
• Toilet seat tightening kit

The procedure for fixing or repairing the Toto toilet seat includes:

1. Rubber bushings installation.

   Remove the toilet seat nuts and insert the rubber bushings. With the tapered side facing up toward the toilet seat, install the rubber bushing.

2. Use the bushing kit, which is a common and efficient Toto toilet seat tightening kit.

   The provided rubber bushings included in the kit are slid on the seat belt and the supplied tools help with tightening.

3. Install seat stabilizers.

   An example of toilet seat stabilizers is the Safe-T-Bumpers. So the process is as such; loop the rubber band around the toilet seat and then center the stabilizers in such a way that they touch the inside rim of the bowl. Then proceed to drill a starter hole and secure the stabilizers with screws from the kit. Another benefit to the seat stabilizers is that they keep the seat centered and eliminate the chances of the seat loosening due to side-to-side movement.

Toto Toilet Lid Replacement

Requirements:

• A new Toto toilet seat
• Ruler/measuring tape
• Screwdriver
• A pair of pliers
• Penetrating oil

The procedure for replacing the lid is as follows:

1. Measure the size of your Toto toilet seat to make sure it is standard.

   Note the distance between the two bolts holding the seat in place (these are located at the top of the toilet seat) as well as the length and width of the seats.

2. But a toilet seat that will fit your measurements.

3. Then remove the old toilet seat lid by unscrewing the two bolts holding it in place. Hold the nut underneath with a pair of pliers as you turn the bolt heads with a screwdriver. there may be plastic caps covering the bolts that you need to pop open.

4. Clean around the holes with baking soda to remove any form of dirt or rust.

5. Then you can proceed to attach your new toilet seat by positioning it over the two holes.

   Re-insert the bolts back into position and tighten the nuts by hand, then hold the nuts in place using the pair of pliers and tighten the bolt heads with a screwdriver.

NOTE: if you are having trouble removing corroded bolts from the seat, spray some of the penetrating oil on the nuts and let them sit overnight.

Also, be careful while tightening the bolts since if you use too much force you might crack the porcelain.
