If your system stops/starts, runs erratically or does not stop running when the thermostat is set to "off," it may be time to replace the defrost thermostat/sensor.

The Carrier OEM Replacement Heat Pump Defrost Sensor helps to keep your heat pump working efficiently. The defrost thermostat functions as a direct replacement for the one that is originally installed in your heat pump. This heat pump defrost sensor has a wire lead running out of its top and a male terminal connection at the end of the lead.

The Carrier 298710 Heat Pump Defrost Sensor is OEM replacement-type sensor that helps indicate your heat pump's defrost cycle and its operating condition. The sensor is used in combination with a baseboard heat pump. The sensor contains a thermistor that operates at a high resistance, and will begin to conduct current when defrost conditions exist. The sensor sends current through the circuit board as the temperature of the thermistor increases during operation.
