It's up to you and Fate Core System will help you tell your story! Fate is a tabletop role-playing game in which players decide what kind of story they want to create. The rules are designed to give players flexibility in how their characters develop.

The Fate Core System is an iteration of the Fate game system designed for flexibility and modularity. It includes everything you need to play games like Mage, Aberrant, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The Fate Core System rulebook contains advice on how to handle difficult aspects of gaming, including violence, stress, sex, and dealing with other people at the gaming table--advice based on years of experience, as well as tips on making sure a game session runs smoothly.

The Fate roleplaying system, designed by Fred Hicks and Rob Donoghue, is a flexible. comprehensive game engine for any roleplaying setting. It’s even designed to work with other manufacturers’ gaming products so you can include everything you need in one place. All of this is presented in a sleek, exciting package that will get players excited about your game—whether they’re newcomers to the hobby or experienced gamers who love discovering new worlds.

FATE is a story game about proactive and reactive protagonists who seek to achieve big things in strange and unpredictable settings. The rules are simple, easily explained in less than two minutes, and complete in one page. Characters determine their success by rolling dice pools of attribute + skill + asset/burden or challenge rating.

FATE includes four books: The core rulebook—which is the basis for all other Fate products; the FATE Horror Toolkit, which contains everything you need to run a game of modern horror; the FATE Accelerated and FATE Core Condition Cards (these two will be available in PDF only); and a book of pre-generated characters to get you into the action faster.
