 Danze Faucet Repair: Handle Removal, Cartridge Replacement and More

Danze faucets contain ball valves and ceramic disk valves. So, to remove and repair your faucet, make sure you have identified the type of faucet you have. This step-by-step guide should help you in the process.

How to Remove the Danze Faucet Handle

First, identify the type of handle the faucet has:

Handle Type 1

There is usually a rubber button that is found on this faucet, which is located at the bottom of the faucet handle.

Loosen the set screw using a hex wrench by rotating it counterclockwise.

Pull out the main handle of the faucet. You may use a wrench to loosen it further.

Handle Type 2

There is a rubber button that is located at the bottom of the handle of the faucet. Pull the button out.

Use the hex wrench to unscrew the set screw.

Pull the main handle off of the faucet. You may loosen the set screw more if needed.

Handle Type 3

Using your hand, unscrew the handle cap of the faucet counterclockwise, and then pull it out.

Use the Philips screwdriver or a flathead screwdriver to unscrew the handle set screw.

Pull the lever handle out.

Use your hand to unscrew the handle canopy counterclockwise, and then pull it out.

Handle Type 4

Pull out the cap that is on the faucet.

Use a flathead screwdriver or the Philips one to unscrew the handle screw counterclockwise.

Then pull the handle out.

Handle Type 5

In a counterclockwise manner, unscrew the handle cap and pull it off the faucet body.

Use the Philips screwdriver or the flat-head one to unscrew the handle set.

Pull out the lever handle.

Place an adjustable wrench on the two slots that are on the handle canopy, and unscrew it. Make sure that the handle is covered with a kitchen towel while you use the adjustable wrench on it so that the color finish of the handle is not scratched in the process.

How to Remove the Danze Opulence Handle

The Danze Opulence faucets also have different types of handles:

Handle Type 1

Unscrew the set screw on the faucet handle using a hex wrench.

Pull the faucet handle out. If the handle fails to come out, loosen the set screw again using the hex wrench.

You have the option of leaving the lever on, or you may pull the handle assembly out entirely.

Handle Type 2

Pull the index cap out after you have unscrewed it.

Loosen the screw using a flat-head screwdriver or the Phillips screwdriver.

Pull out the entire faucet handle assembly.

Handle Type 3

Unscrew the index cap of the faucet and pull it out.

Use a flat-head screwdriver or the Phillips screwdriver to loosen and remove the set screw counterclockwise.

Pull the cross handle out entirely.

Use your hand or an adjustable wrench to unscrew the handle canopy by placing it on any two flat sides at the bottom of the faucet handle. Cover the handle of the faucet using a kitchen towel to prevent the wrench from scratching the color finish of the faucet handle.

How to Replace a Danze Faucet Cartridge

The Danze faucets contain a ceramic disc valve and when it leaks, it is usually caused by debris that may have scratched the ceramic surface.

Replacing a Cartridge

  1. Shut off the water supply to the faucet and drain all the water from the faucet.
  2. There is a retaining nut that is usually underneath the faucet handle. Lock a pair of pliers around it and unscrew it.
  3. If the design of the cartridge is fastened, unscrew it. Otherwise, pull it and lift it out.
  4. Replace the rubber gaskets that are on the valve seat and replace them with new ones.
  5. Insert the cartridge in place of the old one and screw it in if needed.
  6. Screw the retaining nut back on and then put the handle back on.

How to Repair a Leaking Ball-Valve Danze Faucet

  1. Unscrew the cap of the Danze faucet after removing the handle.
  2. Use a wrench and a pair of pliers to remove the retaining nut.
  3. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the gaskets and springs that are on the valve seat.
  4. Replace the gaskets, springs and the ball if they are damaged.
  5. Put everything back in its original position to complete the repairing process.
