HVAC stands for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. It refers to a combination of the different HVAC systems used for moving air in and out of rooms in commercial or residential areas.
Is your HVAC unit working properly?
Here is a list of potential errors that could be found in your HVAC system:
1. Not heating properly
There could be a problem with the circuit breaker or the fuse. The electrical system that is providing your unit with power is short circuited, or the power switch may be blown.
Troubleshooting: If the circuit breaker is blown, replace it with a new one. If not, reset it.
2. The igniter is faulty
The igniter may be cracked or faulty.
Troubleshooting: Check the igniter for cracks and replace it.
3. Irregular cycling
The thermostat could be the problem this time. It may be causing the unit’s furnace to cycle on and off too often.
Troubleshooting: Adjust the heat anticipator on your thermostat if there is an adjustable calibration scale. If adjusting does not work, replace it with a new one.
4. No hot air blowing
The blower motor could be faulty. The belt connecting to the blower motor could be broken, or it could have burnt out.
Troubleshooting: If the motor is running, but not the air, replace the belt.
5. Too much air blowing
The control board regulates the amount of voltage. If it fails, this could result in too much air blowing.
Troubleshooting: Replace the control board with a new one.
6. The thermostat could be the issue
The blower motor could be stuck close to your thermostat, causing your HVAC to run continuously without breaks.
Troubleshooting: Check your thermostat using a multimeter. If the thermostat seems to be broken, replace it with a new one.
