Ameristar Vs. American Standard

Ameristar
was introduced by the American Standard as a result of the innovation of the new ducted and ductless line of heating and cooling equipment.

History

Ameristar was founded with the idea to create products that have an entry level HVAC market. Ameristar furnaces are designed quite similarly to the American Standard furnaces. The Ameristar furnaces are made in New Jersey, while their air conditioners and heat pumps are manufactured in China.

Product lines

Their air conditioners are made with low sound levels of about 74 decibels and 13 and 14 SEER models. These units also have a compact design. Galvanized steel is the material that is used to make their furnaces and they are available in single-stage units and two-stage AFUE units of about 80% and 90% respectively. These furnaces function with the use of natural gas or propane depending on what is available and the make of the unit as well.

Warranty

For their heat pumps and air conditioners, there is a 5-year base limited parts warranty available. In the event that there is need for a replacement for the units within 60 days of installation, there usually is a 10-year registered limited parts warranty.

There is also a 5-year base limited warranty for the Ameristar furnaces. In addition, there is also a 20-year limited heat exchanger limit. If the product is registered within 60 days of installation, there is a particular plan for them. There is also a 10-year registered limited warranty and a 20-year limited heat exchanger warranty as well.

Advantages of Ameristar

  1. Their HVAC units are made of high quality material.
  2. Ameristar delivers as per customer specifications reducing callbacks and downtime in the long run.
  3. Their warranties are non-hassle since they cover cased coils, parts and heat exchangers.

Disadvantages of Ameristar

  1. The units are all single-stage with less humidity, as compared to those units that are two-staged.
  2. For regions that have warm summers, the models that are 13 and 14 SEER cannot be efficient only those with 16 SEER.
  3. The average sound for entry level air conditioners is usually 73 decibels. The 13 and 14 Seer models produce about 76 decibels each, which is quite loud.

American Standard

This company offers a wide range of energy efficient and quality units. These are such as; heating, air conditioning and ventilating units. American standard produces units that are for both residential and commercial use.

Product Lines

Some of the HVAC units that are produced by the American Standard brands are heat pumps, gas and oil furnaces, indoor environment equipment and air handlers.

Warranty

If the compressor fails within the first five years of use, the whole part that is on the outside of the condensing unit is replaced and covered by the warranty. Some of the units are backed by a 12-year warranty on the compressor. For example; the AccuComfort Platinum 20, 18 and the Gold 17 units.

For the Silver American Standard units, there is a compressor warranty that is for a ten-year period.

All the other models, the general parts and the outdoor coils are covered by a 10-year warranty.

Advantages of the American Standard ACs

  1. Based on the compressor that you choose to use, there are three tiers to energy efficiency.

  2. The single stage compressors provide comfort when the fan blows. Warm and humid air blows out when the AC is turned on.

  3. The American Standard compressors run at a lower capacity, making them quieter.

Disadvantages of the American Standard ACs

  1. Their ACs, although high-quality and efficient, are more expensive than other brands.

  2. The American standards ACs are slightly louder than brands.

Both the Ameristar and the American Standard products and AC models are efficient and effective. When deciding on which brand to purchase, you can weigh their pros and cons to see which brand suits you better.
