How to Install a Danze Ceramic Disc Cartridge
The following are step-by-step instructions on how to install a Danze ceramic disc cartridge for a single-handle tub or shower faucet.
Note: Before you begin working on your faucet, shut off the main water supply to avoid flooding. Proceed to work on the faucet once you have ensured that the water is completely shut off.
Step 1: Remove the Old Cartridge
Remove the Danze faucet handle. This can be done after you have removed the base nut and the sleeve of the faucet. Hold the stem of the old Danze cartridge and pull it up from the faucet’s body.
Step 2: Install the New Cartridge
Next, find the locating pins that are at the bottom of the Danze ceramic cartridge, as well as the corresponding hole that is in the faucet’s body. Insert the new Danze ceramic cartridge and rotate it until it slides down to the original position that the old cartridge was at.
Put back the sleeve and hand tighten it. Be careful not to over-tighten it since you will need to use a pair of adjustable pliers to apply about ¼ of a turn. To properly install the sleeve, you need approximately 10-14 lbs of torque.
Reinstall the base nut that you removed earlier if it is in good shape. If not, use a brand new nut and then tighten it by hand.
Step 3: Test for Leaks
After you have reinstalled all the Danze faucet parts that you had removed earlier, you can now turn the water supply back on. Open the faucet and let the water run for about 10 minutes. If you notice a leak and it is coming from the Danze ceramic disc cartridge, tighten the base nut once more and check for leaks another time.

Since 2010, Danze has put a label on all their faucets to help identify the product even after it has been installed. The following are some of the locations for the Danze faucet labels:
- On the underside of the handle canopy.
- The label may be attached to the in-wall valve.
