Delta Jacuzzi Tub Faucet Replacement

Delta Jacuzzi Tub Faucet Replacement

Delta Roman tub faucets have a deck-mounted design, meaning that they are mounted on the rim of the tub or anywhere on the wall around the tub area. The Delta Roman tub faucets have two handles. There are also single and triple-handled Roman tub faucets.

The Delta Jacuzzi faucet tubs require at least three holes for proper installation; one for each of the handles and another for the faucet’s spout. If you are installing a Roman tub that has a sprayer, you will need four holes. A shower diverter valve is usually what redirects water from the tub to the showerhead.

What is the flow rate for a Jacuzzi tub faucet?

If you need to fill your Jacuzzi tub faster, a high flow rate should be the priority when looking for a faucet. There is no code restriction on the Delta jacuzzi tub faucets like there are for the kitchen and bathroom faucets. If these codes were applicable, then it would take an incredibly long time to fill the Jacuzzi tub.

The standard flow rates for the Delta Jacuzzi tub faucets are about 4-7 gallons per minute. Those with high flow rates are usually about 7-11 gallons per minute. Delta also makes Jacuzzi tub faucets with high flow rates that go up to 16 gallons per minute.

Things to consider when looking for a Delta Jacuzzi tub faucet replacement:

What is the number of holes required by the faucet?

Is the spout compatible with the faucet and the tub?

Is the handle compatible?

Replacing a Delta Jacuzzi Tub Faucet

It is quite easy to remove and install a Delta Jacuzzi tub faucet:

Tools

Hex key

Channel locks

Screwdriver

Putty knife

Plumber’s grease

1. Ensure that the parts are compatible. It is usually possible for the valve body to remain as is while replacing the trim on your Delta Jacuzzi tub faucet. The trim consists of the handles, spout as well as the shower head. If the trim and the valve body are not compatible, you will need to make some adjustments. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you purchase compatible parts.

2. Shut off the main power supply. Make sure that the hot and cold water lines are completely off. The handle should be at a 90-degree angle for the supply lines to be off. Take the Delta Jacuzzi tub faucet apart.

How to Disassemble the Delta Jacuzzi Tub Faucet

1.
Remove the handles. There are different types of handles; some are removed by unthreading and others are bolted down using a screw or a hex bolt. Depending on the type of faucet you have, remove the handle and then examine to see if the item is compatible with the new Delta faucet.

2. Remove the cartridges. Remove the stems extension’s cartridge after you have removed the faucet handle. The Delta Jacuzzi tub faucet comes with a trim kit. It is important to use those to replace the old ones.

3. Remove the Delta faucet tub spout. Locate the bolts that have been used to secure the faucet spout and use a hex wrench to remove it. The faucet’s cartridge sits on the valve body.

4. Remove the shower diverter. Find the bolts, nuts and screws that have been used to secure the diverter in place, and then take them off.

5.
Install the new faucet. Reverse the removal process and then install the new trim. Replace the Delta faucet tub spout, the faucet handle as well as the Delta shower diverter.
