Delta Touch Faucet Replacement Solenoid

Delta Touch Faucet Replacement Solenoid

Delta offers a wide range of faucets among them being the Delta touch faucet. The normal operation of the faucet will automatically turn off water flow if this faucet is not touched for more than 2 minutes.

What does a solenoid do on a faucet?

Delta faucet solenoids are the mechanisms that are in charge of controlling the flow of water from the inlet to the faucet spout. They are also in charge of converting electronic energy into mechanical energy. This enables the electronic faucets to function mechanically with the help of their sensor or manual activation.

How to Replace a Delta Touch Faucet Solenoid

1. If your spout is producing three red flashes, you need to replace the batteries. If after replacing the batteries your faucet spout still indicates three red flashes, you need to replace the Delta faucet solenoid assembly.

2. If neither the water nor light indicators are working properly, you need to do the following:

a. Check that all six batteries are inserted in the proper orientation.

b. Replace your batteries; mostly the defective ones.

c. If you are using the optional A/C adapter, check to make sure that the outlet is powered.

d. Check to make sure that the ring terminal connection is on the threaded mounting stud right between the two nuts. It should also be connected to the wire that originates from the solenoid assembly. If it is disconnected or loose, reattach and tighten, then check for proper operation and functionality.

e. Pry the ring terminal connector from the shank of your Delta faucet. If your faucet turns on and off, then the Delta faucet may not be properly isolated from the sink or the countertop. Adjust the mounting hardware in such a way that your faucet is centered in the mounting hole. Then finish by reattaching the ring terminal connector.

3. If the touch sensitivity of your Delta faucet spout is not acceptable, check the battery pack to confirm that it is flat on the floor under your sink.

4. If your spout can display the proper light but little or no water is coming out of the spout, you should do the following:

a. Check to see that the handle is in the “on” position.

b. Ensure the water supplies are also turned “on”.

c. With the handle in the “off” position, remove the Delta faucet solenoid assembly from the outlet of the faucet but make sure that the handle is in the off position. Use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the screen-type filter from the solenoid assembly. Then clean the filter.

d. Move the handle to the “off” position. Then remove the tube that is at the bottom of the solenoid assembly. Place a bucket under the outlet of the solenoid assembly to prevent flooding and then move the handle back to the “on” position to check if there is proper flow coming from the solenoid. Reconnect the tube to the solenoid.

e. Remove the solenoid assembly from the outlet of the faucet but ensure that the handle is back to its “off” position. Move the handle to the “on” position but before that place a bucket under the outlet of the faucet. Proceed to check if water is going through the manual valve and reaching the solenoid. If water still flows even with the solenoid assembly removed, replace the solenoid and the electronics kit.

5. If your faucet spout displays the proper light, but water continues to flow even with the light off, touch the faucet on and off a couple of times in succession to flush any debris that may be caught in the Delta faucet solenoid assembly. If while attempting to flush debris from the solenoid assembly fails to work, just replace the solenoid assembly.

6. If your spout indicator is not illuminating properly, do the following:

a. Check that the faucet spout indicator connector is properly inserted into the solenoid assembly.

b. If you have confirmed that it is properly attached and the light still fails to display on the indicator at the base of the faucet spout, replace the indicator base as well as the solenoid assembly. For the immediate and temporary operation of your faucet, you may remove the solenoid assembly together with the tube that is connected directly to the faucet outlet for manual operation of your faucet.

How to remove a solenoid

First, remove the batteries from the battery pack to remove the existing Delta faucet solenoid assembly valve. Next, pull off the clip that is on the mounting shank. Then identify a clip that slides into the slot on the shank of the faucet. Proceed to pull the wire extension out of the Delta faucet solenoid assembly.

How to bypass the solenoid

You are required to remove the sprayer and the solenoid from the faucet hose as a means of bypassing the solenoid. Some faucets with this capability come with Delta faucet solenoids that contain easy-to-open clips. For other Delta faucets, you will have to use a screwdriver to remove the solenoid.
