The Fasco 647 model C-Frame Skeleton Motors are found in many fan applications, such as the Fasco bath fans, hood fans and humidifier/dehumidifiers.

Rotation is usually determined when facing the shaft and is normally in two forms; CW to denote clockwise and CCW counterclockwise. Motors have 2 - 6" wire leads. All the motor styles have the same mounting pattern for the studs. These Fasco motors can replace: Fasco 7158-1185, 0648-0027, 8767-8225, 642, 643, 645, 646, 647, A647, B647, 648S, 664, A664, 667, A667, B667 among others.

The Fasco A647 fan may not function properly after many years of use. However, replacing it with this motor is the best alternative. Cleaning off the lint and dust that has built up over the years would be quite difficult. It is not a must to replace all the parts because some are reusable such as; the plastic fan blade, the fan housing, screws, the metal motor bracket as well as the nuts.

The replacement procedure is quite simple:

  1. Turn off the circuit breaker to the fan.
  2. Pull down and detach the fan cover. Clean out all the lint and dust the unit at all times.
  3. Unplug the Fasco fan motor from the housing plug.
  4. Loosen the screws on the motor, and then remove the motor and brackets. Clean out the lint and all the dust once more.
  5. Loosen the nuts that are on the motor bracket to remove the old motor.
  6. Remove the old fan from the old motor. The fan is usually pressed-fit onto the motor shaft. It is important to not bend or damage the shaft. The flat wrench should be inserted between the fan and the motor. Pry them apart by moving the Fasco fan motor around as you go. At this point also, clean the lint and the dust off the fan and the bracket.
  7. Mount the new Fasco motor on the old bracket (or a new one as needed) in the same orientation as with the old motor. Fasten the old nuts.
  8. On the old motor, press the new Fasco fan motor inside, and check to see if it is straight. Adjust as needed.
  9. Re-mount the motor bracket, motor and fan in the housing. Fasten the bracket screws.
  10. Plug the new motor into the plug that is inside the housing.
  11. Turn the circuit breaker back on and then test it.
  12. Re-attach the fan cover.

The new Fasco fan motor will then be much quieter than the old version after you have fixed it.
