Grohe Faucet Handle Removal

Grohe Faucet Handle Removal

Learn how to successfully remove a Grohe faucet handle with this guide. There are many reasons you may want to remove your Grohe faucet handle. For example, the cartridge inside your faucet is damaged and requires a change. Or, you may want to clean the inside of your faucet, change the filter or fix a leakage. You may also just want an upgrade to your old faucet.

In general, removing the handle requires a simple grasp and pull. However, the handle press is fitted onto a plastic bushing, and this can cause resistance—which means you may have to use more force when pulling.

Faucet with Decorative Caps

1. Close the lid with a small screwdriver.

2. Use an Allen key to remove the small screw on the bottom of the handles.

3. Using a screwdriver, remove the cover screws.

4. Remove the tap cover. If the faucet has an adjustment screw, remove the adjustment screw with an Allen key. Pull the handle up to remove it from a faucet body.

Disassembling a Grohe Shower Handle

1. Stop the flow of water in the shower by closing the water inlet hose.

2. Remove the handle adjustment screw and set it aside.

3. Pull the lever cartridge back and away from the tap.

How to remove a screw from a Grohe Shower Faucet Handle

Unlike most screws, self-tapping screws are too soft for screwdrivers.

Insert a cobalt bit into the dress press. Drill through the center of the head. Put the drill bit on the first hole and drill the screw head.

How to remove the Grohe Faucet Handle

The Grohe Seabury is a bathroom faucet with lever-style handles. To remove either handle, simply grip and pull upwards. If it doesn’t come off at first, wiggle it a bit and pull harder.

You can also use locking pliers. To do this, wrap a rag around the handle to protect it from the pliers. Wedge a pry bar underneath the decorative conical collar and pry upwards.

Grohe Faucet Cartridge replacement

Once the Grohe Seabury handle has been removed, you will notice the valve assembly. There is a set of screws on top of the valve stem, and when you remove the screw with a screwdriver, it releases the ribbed plastic holder. You can then unscrew the retaining nut holding the cartridge, using your locking pliers and pull out the cartridge.

There are different Grohe models out there. Check the set screw before assuming the handle is press-fitted. Like other faucet makers, Grohe usually hides the screw behind a cap that would be taken off.

How to remove a Grohe Faucet Handle without screws

Bathroom faucets come with handles for support, but some contain no screws due to aesthetic purposes.

1. Locate the cap or button

The faucet cap or button is often not situated at the side or the top of the faucet.

2. Use a flat screwdriver to pop out the button or cap

Insert the small, flat screwdriver inside the gap of the button or cap, and work it slowly and gently around the edge until it comes off. Keep in mind that most faucet caps and handles are very delicate.

3. Turn off the water supply

Turn off the water supply to avoid any damages.

4.  Remove the screw

After taking out the cap or button, remove the screw inside. Ensure you cover or close the drain before removing the screw, to avoid losing it from falling down the drain.
